2024 Charles Schwab Challenge tee times, TV coverage, viewer’s guide

After an … eventful PGA Championship, the PGA Tour will switch gears and head to Texas for the Charles Schwab Challenge. A mainstay on the golf schedule, Colonial Country Club has become the longest-running host venue among non-majors with the inaugural event held 78 years ago in 1946.

Although not a major field, this year’s Charles Schwab Challenge is highlighted by defending champ Emiliano Grillo who survived a playoff bout in 2023 with Adam Schenk. A host of who’s who on tour will look to knock off Grillo from World No. 1 (and recent inmate) Scottie Scheffler to Collin Morikawa, Max Homa, Brian Harman, Keegan Bradley, Sepp Straka, Jordan Spieth, Tom Kim, Chris Kirk and Tony Finau. Before last year’s missed cut, Spieth had finished in the top 10 in seven out of eight years.

Billy Horschel and Justin Rose are both looking to keep their strong play going with the two pros finishing in the top 10 at Valhalla. Speaking of the PGA, Michael Block will tee off this week at Colonial. His major finish this May didn’t match last year’s but perhaps he was saving the good vibes for Charles Schwab.

This week’s winner will receive 500 FedEx Cup points and a $1.638 million cut of the $9.1 million purse.

TV Schedule

Golf Channel will carry live coverage on Thursday and Friday from 4-7 p.m. EDT. On Saturday and Sunday, Golf Channel will start the coverage from 1-3 p.m. with CBS taking over with afternoon coverage from 3-6 p.m.

Streaming Schedule

PGA Tour Live streaming coverage will air on ESPN+ from 8:15 a.m.-7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

“I’ll do what I can, sir.” That’s all Wolfgang Van Halen said when he was asked to honor Ozzy Osbourne at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Polite. Humble. Understated. But what came next? Pure chaos—in the best way possible. The second Chad Smith, Robert Trujillo, and Andrew Watt hit their first notes, the air changed. Then Ozzy stormed in, ripping through “Crazy Train” like it was 1981 all over again—wild, loud, and alive. But just when the crowd thought they’d seen it all, Maynard James Keenan and Wolfgang came charging in, guitars blazing, lighting the place on fire. The energy was insane. And it didn’t stop there. Zakk Wylde and Jelly Roll followed up with a haunting, soul-crushing version of “Mama, I’m Coming Home” that had people wiping their eyes. And just when you thought your heart couldn’t take more, Billy Idol exploded onto the stage with “No More Tears,” shaking the walls and blowing the roof straight off. This wasn’t just a tribute. It was a thunderstorm of sound, sweat, and raw emotion—a night no one there will ever forget

Even when I came out in 1998, people said, ‘You’ll lose your fans, your legacy, your power.’ And guess what?” Rob said, pausing for effect. “I’m still here. Still loud. Still metal. Still gay.
