The 2024/25 Premier League fixture list has been announced.
And for Chelsea, they kick things off with a home bout against Manchester City, the reigning champions. The Blues will officially begin life under newly-appointed head coach Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge with one of the most difficult challenges in football: beating Man City.
Over the course of the season, Maresca is bound to face some really difficult challenges. And with Chelsea potentially involved in European football again next term, fixture congestion may well play a huge part in the Italian’s debut campaign with the club.
Chelsea, though, need to progress through a two-legged play-off tie in order to qualify for the Europa Conference League group stage. The tie has not been drawn yet but the first-leg is scheduled to be played on August 22 with the return game a week later on August 29.
Should Chelsea progress through the play-off tie, then they could well face a hectic December period to say the least. The last month of the year is infamous in English football for throwing up challenges but if the Blues are to qualify for the Carabao Cup quarter-final, then they could play up to nine matches throughout December.
As things stand, and this is all subject to change, Chelsea play Brentford at home in the Premier League on December 14 and then could play a Carabao Cup quarter-final on December 18 with a Conference League match on December 19. These dates are to be confirmed, but this will take some serious juggling to fit all of the fixtures in if this is the case.
