Chelsea’s incoming transfer business got off to a flyer with five first-team additions within the opening month of the window. Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Omari Kellyman, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Renato Veiga all made the move to Stamford Bridge. They have also signed 17-year-old sensation Estevao Willian, but he won’t join until 2025.
Caleb Wiley became their latest addition in an £8.5million switch from Atlanta last week, and despite being the busiest Premier League club, their summer activity is not set to stop there. Chelsea, who are currently out in the United States for a pre-season tour, want to complete more transfers before their curtain-raiser against Manchester City next month.
As for those exiting the club, Ian Maatsen, Lewis Hall, Omari Hutchinson, Malang Sarr, Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva are the six players to have departed this summer – and more could follow.
With this in mind, football.london has taken a closer look at five deals both in and out which could be completed before the week ends.
Filip Jorgensen
Chelsea are close to completing a deal to sign Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal. The Danish goalkeeper is travelling out to the United States to finalise a move to Stamford Bridge, football.london understands. The Blues have been looking to sign a new first-choice shot-stopper this summer and it seems they have got their man.
The 22-year-old is set to sign a long-term contract at the Blues once he completes his medical. The deal for Jorgensen is believed to be just north of £20m. Chelsea alternated between Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic in goal last season but Enzo Maresca wants a goalkeeper that specialises in playing out from the back.
Aaron Anselmino
Aaron Anselmino is expected to undergo his medical and sign his Chelsea contract in London on Monday. The 19-year-old, who only made his senior debut for Boca Juniors last June, is set to join for a fee in the region of £17million, including add-ons, on a six-year deal that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2030.
However, the Argentine is set to stay at Boca on loan before moving to the Blues until January. Anselmino has made 10 first-team appearances during his career but no doubt has a bright future ahead, with Chelsea signing yet another talented youngster from South America.
Victor Osimhen
Chelsea need to sign a new striker this summer, there is no doubt about it. Nicolas Jackson scored 17 goals in 44 appearances during his debut season but it does feel that the Blues need to upgrade and sign a world-class centre forward. And Napoli’s Victor Osimhen has someone that has been mentioned.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Osimhen is hoping to leave Napoli this summer and has been linked with a move to Chelsea. The 25-year-old, who netted 17 times in 32 matches last season, could be an astute addition and would significantly bolster their front line.
Trevoh Chalobah
Moving to players that could leave the Blues and Trevoh Chalobah is someone that is heading for the exit door. The 25-year-old has been left out of their pre-season tour of the United States and has been subject to interest from the likes of West Ham and Nottingham Forest this summer.
Chalobah featured for the development squad in a pre-season friendly over the weekend and does not look to be part of Maresca’s plans. Reports circulated last week that Manchester United have entered the race for the centre-back and that could be an excellent move for him. There is no doubt Chelsea need to sell him, though.
Conor Gallagher
Another potential exit on the cards, Conor Gallagher has been tipped to leave the Blues and make the switch to Atletico Madrid. Chelsea have slapped a £50million asking price on the England international, who has one year left on his contract. But the Blues may have to budge and allow him to go for less than their valuation.
Atletico are not prepared to pay over the odds for the midfielder and have already made one bid said to be in the region of £17million, which has not been accepted. If the Blues sell Gallagher, it could allow them to strengthen another position such as signing a new centre forward which is a more pressing matter.
