Legendary New York Rangers broadcaster Sam Rosen is set to retire following the 2024-25 season.

This upcoming season will mark Rosen’s 40th as the Rangers broadcaster for MSG Network as he’s been a part of some legendary moments including the Blueshirts Stanley Cup victory in 1994.

“For years, I’ve never talked about age,” Rosen said. “When people would say, ‘Whatever, happy, 70th or 71st.’ A couple of years ago, when my wife had a surprise party for me for my 75th and suddenly, with friends around, you start thinking about, ‘OK, how do you want to wind this up?’ At that point, it’s getting to where you want to wind up and go out on top. My feeling is: My performance has been good. I’ve loved every minute of it.”

Rosen represents the embodiment of a true New York sports fan. Growing up in Brooklyn, he was a Yankees, Knicks, Giants and Rangers fan, so to say he fulfilled his dream would be an understatement.

For his incredible broadcasting career, Rosen was named the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award winner, earning him a place in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Now at 77-year-old, Rosen is ready to step away in what has been an incredible and memorable career.

Through his last season as a broadcaster, every hockey fan no matter what team you root for should take the time to watch some of Rosen’s broadcasts because he will go down as one of the greatest hockey broadcasters to ever live.
