Romeo Lavia sends two-word message to Jadon Sancho amid Chelsea injury concern

Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia has sent a two-word message to Jadon Sancho after the Manchester United winger made the deadline day switch to Stamford Bridge. Sancho has joined the Blues on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season after struggling for game time at United.

It’s understood Chelsea have an obligation to buy Sancho for £25million next summer. The England international was their 12th summer signing and came after Raheem Sterling made the move to Arsenal. He was not registered in time to make his debut against Crystal Palace on Sunday but could feature for the Blues after the international break when they make the trip to Bournemouth.

After making the switch to west London, Sancho posted two images on Instagram showing him wearing a Chelsea training shirt and the match jersey itself. He captioned that by tagging the official Chelsea account alongside a blue circle emoji. The post, at the time of writing, has accumulated over 750,000 likes.

A number of players wished Sancho the best in the comments section, with Donny van de Beek, Jesse Lingard and Manuel Akanji among those to post something. Another player wishing his new Chelsea teammate well was Lavia, who said: “Let’s go!” followed by the raising hands emoji and the blue love heart emoji.

It comes as Lavia continues to recover from a ‘minor hamstring knock’ sustained last month. The Belgian had featured in each of Chelsea’s first two matches of the season – including the opening day defeat against Manchester City – but has missed the last three games due to injury.

Speaking after the 6-2 win over Wolves – a game in which Lavia missed – he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “5 [star emoji] team performance! Let’s keep it going. ps: I’ll be back very soon. Nothing to worry about it’s going to be a long and exciting season for us Blues,” alongside the blue heart emoji.

As for Sancho, he cut a delighted figure after moving to Chelsea. He said: “I’m really excited to be here. London is where I grew up and I’m happy to be back. The manager spoke to me about the project and, for a young player, it’s exciting. Hopefully I can bring goals and assists to the Bridge.”
