Estevao Willian sent an emotional message as the future Chelsea made history with his national team.
The 17-year-old made his debut for Brazil in their 1-0 victory over Ecuador in a World Cup qualifier on Friday night.
Real Madrid star Rodrygo scored the only goal of the contest to see Brazil earn the win in pursuit of qualification for the tournament in 2026.
Estevao was introduced in the second half by Brazil manager Dorivial Junior, replacing Luiz Henrique in the process.
The substitution meant that Estevao became the second-youngest player to make their debut for Brazil since the turn of the century, behind only Endrick who joined Real Madrid this summer.
After making his debut, Estevao posted a message on social media to express his gratitude for the opportunity. The future Chelsea star explained how he will remember the occasion for a long time.
“There are no explanations, it’s only God, all honour and glory be given to God,” Estevao wrote on Instagram.
“A day marked for the rest of my life, very happy to make my debut with the heaviest shirt in the world, only agent to God and my family.”
Chelsea agreed a deal with Palmeiras earlier in the summer worth £28.7million plus a potential £19.4million in add-ons which could take the fee beyond £48million. For the time being, Estevao remains with the Brazilian club and it remains to be seen when the teenager will officially move to Stamford Bridge.
It was reported by Brazilian outlet Nosso Palestra that Chelsea are looking to bring Estevao to the club once the season with Palmeiras draws to a close. If that happens, the final day of the Brasileirao is scheduled for December 8 where Palmeiras are scheduled to face Fluminense in their last domestic fixture of the campaign.
