Arteta ‘very interested’ in Real Madrid star as Arsenal ‘believe’ £42m bid enough to sign him

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly “very interested” in signing Real Madrid midfielder Brahim Díaz this summer, with the Gunners preparing a formal approach as they aim to strengthen their attacking depth ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. Reports emerging from Spain suggest Arsenal are confident that a bid in the region of £42 million could be enough to tempt Los Blancos into parting ways with the 24-year-old.

Arteta’s Vision and Díaz’s Fit

Arteta is known to be a meticulous planner with a clear tactical blueprint, and sources close to the club believe Brahim Díaz perfectly fits the mold of a dynamic and versatile attacker who can slot seamlessly into Arsenal’s fluid front line. The Spanish international, who can operate as a winger or attacking midfielder, offers creativity, flair, and ball retention—traits Arteta has been keen to reinforce as he looks to close the gap on Manchester City in both the Premier League and Europe.

Díaz enjoyed an impressive 2023/24 season under Carlo Ancelotti, contributing key goals and assists in Real Madrid’s La Liga and Champions League campaigns. But despite his impact, the fierce competition for places in Madrid—with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Vinícius Júnior, Rodrygo, and Arda Güler all fighting for attacking spots—has led to questions about his long-term role at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Arsenal’s Confidence Grows

Arsenal’s interest in Díaz is not new, but it has gained serious momentum in recent weeks. Club insiders suggest that Arteta, who still maintains strong connections in Spanish football, has been closely monitoring the player’s development. The Gunners reportedly believe that a £42 million bid could be sufficient to open negotiations, especially given Real Madrid’s potential interest in freeing up squad space and funds for other targets this summer.

While Madrid are not actively looking to sell Díaz, the club could be open to listening to offers that reflect the player’s market value—particularly with new arrivals like Kylian Mbappé expected to further crowd the forward options.

Competition and Timing

Despite Arsenal’s optimism, they are not alone in the race. Clubs from Serie A and the Bundesliga are also said to be tracking Díaz, although Arsenal’s Champions League status and the opportunity to work under Arteta—who is widely respected for developing young talents—give them a significant edge.

Timing, however, will be crucial. With Euro 2024 drawing attention across the continent, transfer negotiations are often delayed, but Arsenal are believed to want to move quickly to avoid a bidding war and allow Díaz a full pre-season to integrate with the squad.

What Díaz Brings to Arsenal

Díaz’s arrival would add another layer of technical excellence and unpredictability to Arsenal’s attack. His low center of gravity, sharp turns, and eye for a killer pass have made him a fan favorite at Madrid and previously at AC Milan, where he spent three seasons on loan.

For Arsenal, who have at times struggled with squad depth and attacking variation, Díaz could prove to be a decisive addition—particularly in games where unlocking low blocks has been a persistent challenge.

Conclusion

While a deal is not yet imminent, Arsenal’s growing belief in securing Brahim Díaz for £42 million highlights their intent to be proactive in the market. With Mikel Arteta “very interested” and Díaz potentially available, this could be one of the most intriguing transfers of the summer. The Gunners will now look to test Real Madrid’s resolve in the coming days as they aim to secure a signing that could add both quality and dep

th to their evolving project.
