Chelsea could complete a stunning double transfer of Jadon Sancho and Victor Osimhen in the final days of the summer window. The Blues have held talks with Napoli for Osimhen over the last few months alongside discussions regarding Romelu Lukaku joining the Italian club in a separate deal.
With the Belgian striker having now agreed to the move which will see him reunite with Antonio Conte, the Nigeria international potentially heading the other way looked to have gathered pace. However, the Blues are now considering a move for Brentford’s Ivan Toney before deadline day, football.london understands.
Alongside ongoing conversations for both strikers, contact has also been made with Manchester United over a swap deal involving Sancho and Raheem Sterling. The English duo are both considered up for sale by their respective clubs with a surprising solution being that they each acquire the services of the other teams’ winger.
With all of that being said, football.london has taken a look at the latest Chelsea transfer news and rumours from Stamford Bridge.
Sterling and Sancho deal
Such is the desperation that clubs experience towards the summer transfer window, a swap deal involving Chelsea and Manchester United for Jadon Sancho and Raheem Sterling is a real possibility.
Some initial talks have already taken place as both clubs look for a solution before the August 30 deadline. Sterling has already been exiled from first-team training, while United are very much open to allowing Sancho to leave.
football.london says: “This would be quite the sensational transfer agreement if both United and Chelsea accept the terms.
“It is rather unclear which team would be getting the better deal, though it is likely being considered more because of the problem it solves as opposed to the new signing acquired. The Blues already have too many wingers though and adding Sancho to the mix will undoubtedly see those issues remain.
“At the very least, Chelsea do not have many wide options like Sancho, with Noni Madueke, Pedro Neto and Cole Palmer all left-footed, and that may be enough to pursue a deal.”
Osimhen twist with Toney decision
Chelsea could abandon their long-winded Victor Osimhen pursuit in favour of signing Ivan Toney, who Brentford are said to value at £50million.
The Blues are keen on signing a striker before the summer window closes with the duo said to be on the club’s four-man shortlist and it looks as though Toney has moved up a few places.
football.london says: “Financially, bringing in Toney looks far more attainable than signing Osimhen. However, the Napoli forward should still be the club’s priority if they are to bring in a striker over the next 72 hours.
“A final decision will have to be made in the coming hours though, with the main stumbling block for Osimhen surrounding his personal terms. As for Toney, it seems as though it would be much easier to agree on a salary and fee with Brentford.
“While Toney is likely still behind Osimhen in Chelsea’s transfer pecking order, it should be a much easier deal to complete that includes the added incentive of him being Premier League-proven. Based on that, it is likely there is at least one more twist set to occur in the Osimhen saga which could see Chelsea leave the deal entirely and go all out for Toney.”
