Gianluigi Donnarumma Continues to Reject PSG Contract Offer Amid Man City Interest as French Giants See Man Utd Target as Ideal Replacement for Star Goalkeeper

Gianluigi Donnarumma’s future at Paris Saint-Germain has become one of the most talked-about transfer sagas of the summer, with fresh reports indicating that the Italian international continues to resist signing a contract extension with the Ligue 1 champions. As speculation swirls around his next move, the situation has caught the attention of Manchester City, who are believed to be keen admirers of the former AC Milan prodigy. Meanwhile, PSG are already planning for life without their star goalkeeper, eyeing a Manchester United target as the perfect successor.

Since his high-profile switch from AC Milan to PSG in 2021 on a free transfer, Donnarumma’s time in Paris has been marked by flashes of brilliance but also uncertainty. Despite helping the club secure multiple domestic trophies, the 25-year-old has struggled to fully win over all sections of the fanbase, partly due to some high-profile errors and a competitive rivalry with former PSG keeper Keylor Navas. Now, with his current contract set to expire in 2026, the Italian shot-stopper is reportedly hesitant to commit his long-term future to the club.

Sources close to the situation suggest that Donnarumma has turned down at least two improved offers from PSG in recent months. The club’s hierarchy, led by sporting director Luis Campos, is determined to secure his services for the foreseeable future but are growing increasingly frustrated by the lack of progress. Donnarumma, for his part, is said to be weighing his options carefully, with his representatives testing the waters across Europe’s top clubs.

This is where Manchester City come into the picture. The Premier League champions, always on the lookout for opportunities to strengthen their already star-studded squad, have reportedly expressed interest in Donnarumma as a potential long-term replacement for Ederson. Although Ederson remains Pep Guardiola’s trusted number one, there are whispers that the Brazilian could seek a new challenge in the near future, especially amid interest from Saudi Arabian clubs. Should Ederson depart, Donnarumma’s availability could present City with a rare chance to sign a world-class keeper in his prime.

City’s interest is likely to appeal to Donnarumma, who has always dreamed of competing at the highest level of club football. The chance to work under Guardiola, play behind one of the world’s best defences, and challenge for the Champions League every year could be the perfect next step in his career. Financially, City would have no trouble meeting his wage demands, which have reportedly been a sticking point in negotiations with PSG.

However, PSG are not sitting idle while their number one weighs up his options. Reports in France suggest that the club’s recruitment team has already drawn up a shortlist of potential replacements, with Diogo Costa, the highly rated Portuguese goalkeeper at Porto, and Manchester United target André Onana believed to be at the top. Onana, who only joined United last summer, has had a mixed first season in the Premier League but remains highly regarded across Europe for his shot-stopping ability and composure with the ball at his feet.

Ironically, Onana’s potential availability could trigger a domino effect involving all three clubs. United, who invested heavily in Onana to replace David de Gea, may find themselves reluctantly open to offers if the player expresses a desire to move to Paris. PSG see Onana’s style as a perfect fit for their philosophy, especially under new manager Luis Enrique, who favours playing out from the back. Furthermore, Onana’s experience in the Champions League and proven ability to handle high-pressure matches make him an attractive candidate to step into Donnarumma’s gloves.

For Manchester United, losing Onana so soon after acquiring him would be far from ideal, but any deal would likely involve a substantial fee that could be reinvested in other areas of the squad. Erik ten Hag would almost certainly push for a top-tier replacement to maintain United’s ambitions of competing both domestically and in Europe.

As things stand, Donnarumma’s next move remains uncertain, but what is clear is that his decision will have a ripple effect across Europe’s elite. PSG’s hopes of convincing him to stay appear to be fading with each passing week, and the club may soon have to accept that their prized asset wants a new challenge. If Manchester City’s interest turns into a concrete offer, Donnarumma could find himself swapping the Parc des Princes for the Etihad Stadium—a move that would reshape the goalkeeping landscape at three of Europe’s biggest clubs.

With weeks to go before the new season kicks off, all eyes will be on Paris, Manchester, and Porto as this complex transfer triangle unfolds. Whether Donnarumma stays, signs with City, or forces PSG to raid Old Trafford for Onana, the outcome will undoubtedly make headlines and fuel debates about who truly holds the title of Europe’s best goalkeeper. For now, the only certainty is that Gianluigi Donnarumma holds the cards, and the summer transfer window just got a lo

t more interesting.

Pure chaos—in the best way possible. The second Chad Smith, Robert Trujillo, and Andrew Watt hit their first notes, the air changed. Then Ozzy stormed in, ripping through “Crazy Train” like it was 1981 all over again—wild, loud, and alive. But just when the crowd thought they’d seen it all, Maynard James Keenan and Wolfgang came charging in, guitars blazing, lighting the place on fire. The energy was insane. And it didn’t stop there. Zakk Wylde and Jelly Roll followed up with a haunting, soul-crushing version of “Mama, I’m Coming Home” that had people wiping their eyes.
