The Chicago Bulls officially announced their Summer League roster on Friday morning.
Headlined by No. 11 overall pick Matas Buzelis and second-year forward Julian Phillips, the group is set to take the court on July 13 against the Milwaukee Bucks. The roster also included big man Adama Sanogo – who reportedly re-signed with the organization on a two-way deal this week – as well as Henri Drell and Andrew Funk. Both Drell and Funk also competed on a two-way deal for the Chicago Bulls last season, with Funk joining later in the year after Onuralp Bitim earned a full-time roster spot.

Marcus Domask is a familiar name to many Illinois natives. The jumbo guard played four seasons at Southern Illinois before playing a fundamental part in the Fighting Illini’s run to the Elite 8 this past season. He reportedly signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the team shortly after draft night.
Two other notable names are DJ Steward and Dereon Seabron. Both guards put together strong seasons in the G-League last year averaging at least 18.0 points per game during the regular season. Steward is a former Duke Blue Devil who played his first two seasons with the Kings’ G-League affiliate before spending last year with the Timberwolves affiliate. A high-volume 3-point shooter, Steward took 7.1 attempts per game and converted at a 35.3 percent clip.
As for Seabron, he’s a very different kind of playmaker. A former member of the NC State Wolfpack, Seabron has played under a two-way contract for the New Orleans Pelicans in the past. He’s listed at six-foot-seven and shot 50.3 percent from the field last season with 5.9 assists and 5.5 rebounds.
One noticeable omission is Dalen Terry. While it is rare for third-year players to travel to Las Vegas, Terry has played very little over his first two years in the league. He’s averaged just 9.2 minutes during his 97 appearances in the NBA. Giving him a chance to gain some confidence and show off what he’s learned on the Summer League stage sure doesn’t feel like a bad idea. Alas, the Chicago Bulls have opted to give him the time off.
All things considered, this sure feels like an older roster than usual for Summer League. Only four players on the team are currently 23 or under, with Buzelis and Phillips being the youngest two. I guess there is no better time than now for the Chicago Bulls to evaluate some G-League standouts, however, especially with the organization heading in a retooling direction.
