The Virginia Tech Hokies have five commitments in their 2025 recruiting class, led by four-star linebacker Brett Clatterbaugh. Four of Virginia Tech’s five commitments come from the state of Virginia, with only quarterback Kelden Ryan (Texas) coming from outside the state.
Could the Hokies be closing in on another Virginia native for the 2025 class?
Three-star cornerback Deuce Edwards from Trinity Episcopal in Richmond revealed his three finalists on Wednesday, and the Hokies made the top group. Edwards also included West Virginia and Michigan State as his other finalists.

Edwards is a 6-foot-1, 180-pound cornerback who currently holds 25 offers. It’s an impressive offer list that also includes Clemson, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Florida State, Penn State and Michigan.
He plans on making his decision on June 22.
June is generally a big month for the Hokies and other college football teams in terms of recruiting. Teams use the slow part of the offseason to host as many visitors as possible, including most official visits. Virginia Tech’s impressive 2024 class was jumpstarted with a big June last summer.
